Coordinator at the NGO FairFin
"We have to use a language that connects different groups in society, rather than separates them. That, and humor!"
Who are you?
I am coordinator at the NGO FairFin. I believe the financial system is a key player in the transition towards a sustainable future. Together with members and volunteers, our team motivates civil society with tools and actions to make positive changes to transform the financial system as well as call on bankers and politicians to facilitate these changes.
Why are you part of Generation T?
I strongly feel that a lot of the things that truly prevent us from 'going sustainable' are not related to knowledge, technical abilities, or economic opportunities, but to cultural beliefs, attitudes, etc. In order to overcome these, we have to use a language that connects different groups in society, rather than separates them. That, and humor!
A specific example on how your project or activities make a difference and initiate change:
Our current campaign activities on divestment make banks, politicians, institutional investors, organisations and consumers re-evaluate the nature of investments as well motivate them to act accordingly by placing their money in more climate friendly funds and banks.
