Who are you?

During my exchange to India in 2012 I first heard about Muhammad Yunus and the Grameen Bank. Social business was the answer to my doubts regarding the traditional companies I learned about in business school. And it inspired me to strife for social impact in an economically viable way. One year later I had an idea which became Co-Searching. Co-Searching is a peer-to-peer community for job seekers where they meet in real life and help each other out. I met my co-founders during iDrops’ co-creation contest for social innovation in youth unemployment, which we won. Now we are starting partnerships with the VDAB and Ghent and we are looking for financing.

Why are you part of Generation T?

I can provide knowledge and experience with social business modelling and the p2p society and I am a strategic thinker. Thanks to Co-Searching my personal network is growing, mainly between the many organisations active in the job market, the VDAB and social innovators in general. But most of all I would bring my intrinsic motivation to change the world. I believe in a holistic approach for systemic change. Cooperation between future and existing stakeholders will be the key for changing the world. Start-up coaches always give the advice to find a complementary team to start your business. Well, to start changing society we should follow the same advice!

A specific example on how your project or activities make a difference and initiate change:

I am working full time on the development of Co-Searching, a growing p2p community in the job market. We are disrupting the traditional approach on job coaching where the job seeker needs help and the coach provides it. At Co-Searching we believe in the expertise of every job seeker. By stimulating exchange of experience and knowledge Co-Searching enables job seekers to help each other: every participant is teacher as well as student. We make job seeking a positive and social occasion. We spread information and experience throughout the job market. But our main goal is to increase intrinsic motivation and well-being during unemployment.
